5 Affordable and Healthy Meals For Nigerian Students.

Great Nigerian students! A beautiful morning, afternoon, evening, and night (depending on the time you’re reading this ) to you. I’m sure many of you have started practicing the 0-0-1 eating method because “ain’t nobody got time to fix a decent meal in a Nigerian university” I understand this, and that’s why I’ve come up with this list of quick, affordable and healthy meals you can prepare in school, and the good news is you don’t need to rob a bank to do so.
Here are 5 inexpensive, wholesome, and simple meals that students in Nigerian colleges can make that offer an alternative to the everyday noodles, eggs, and cereal.

Jollof Rice

Jollof rice is served in every Nigerian home, party, etc. It is one of those meals that you can prepare your way. As a student, your jollof rice does not necessarily need to be as fancy as the ones you’ve eaten at home. Provided you have rice at home, you won’t spend more than 1500 Naira to prepare this meal. And it’s healthy! Serve with eggs or your preferred protein (I prefer mine with dried fish.)

Pap and Beans

We always ate this on Sundays when we were kids. My mother used to reward my siblings and I to this meal after cleaning the house. As a Nigerian student, beans and pap ought to be on your list because, well, why not?
Proteins and folate, two essential elements found in beans, play a significant part in the upkeep and repair of bodily structures.
Then pap? According to Healthguide.ng, pap (sometimes referred to as akamu or ogi) helps to strengthen your immune system while regulating blood pressure and lowering LDL cholesterol.
This meal is simple to prepare. You should try it out!

Toast Bread and Tea

Students and others with low incomes love the combo of tea and bread. Try toasting your bread to add some flavor to the meal. Toast bread and tea is a simple meal you can prepare before going for school. You only need four slices of your favorite bread, eggs, butter, sachet milk, and hot cocoa to get started.
I understand that not everyone has access to a toaster, but did you know that there is another method for achieving this without a toaster? I’ll be showing you an interesting and budget friendly method for doing this in my next article.

Yam and Egg Sauce

Yams have been linked to a number of health benefits, including an improvement in blood sugar regulation, a reduction in inflammation, and brain health. They make a terrific addition to your diet in both savory and sweet recipes because they are adaptable, simple to prepare, and delicious.
Egg sauce has the advantage of going with anything, including rice, bread, plantains, yams, and other foods. Since it is so filling, you should try it out while you are still in school, especially on days when you are unsure of where your next meal will come from (if you don’t gerrit, forget abourrit😂).

Eba and Okra soup

Okro soup is one of the most affordable soups to make in Nigeria. You can prepare a quick and nutritious Okra soup with just 1000 Naira. Okra is full of antioxidants, vitamins A and C, and other nutrients that help lower the risk of significant medical illnesses like cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and stroke.
You can choose to have this delicious soup with any other dish.
There you have it… 5 affordable and healthy meals for every Nigerian student. Let me know what you think in the comment section.
